The pandemic has caused small businesses to shut down and incur huge losses. 

Many have shut down their businesses permanently. The art clusters in India have experienced non-payment and unemployment in the wake of COVID-19. These unprecedented times have resulted in the fear of extinction of such clusters as the uncertainty of employability makes the workers skeptical in passing these skills to next generations. One of our mission being preserving craftsmanship in India, we began to tie up with small units who have been affected and needed an opportunity to survive.

 

 Our aim was to create a seamless and transparent network of suppliers who excelled at their work  and were in dire need of work. It was heart-warming to see their enthusiasm in working with us. They said, “It is all we have learnt to do in our lives, and it worries us to think of alternatives to sustain our families”. It upsets us to see how such talented people did not get the appreciation of work and respect as it is seen in the West. 

 

It was due to these reasons, we offered No-minimum order quantities. The small businesses could handle smaller quantities and produce with excellent quality. This was just not an advantage for them but also for Upcoming designers who want to start their brands through risk-free retailing. Massive minimum order quantities lead brands to buy beyond what they need in order to make a sale. But that leads to excess inventory, which leads to markdowns, which leads to brand dilution. And no new brand can really afford that.

 

Therefore, we are equipped to work with both, small and large production orders to cater to every designer and company. It is important for us to be a good fit for each other.
